The revised Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (BBP) - with changes mandated by the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act - became effective in April 2001. A key element of this standard is the continuing requirement for employers to provide annual training to employees who may be at risk of occupational exposures to bloodborne pathogens.
The training, as mandated by OSHA, must include information about bloodborne pathogens, proper work practices and appropriate use of personal protective equipment, as well as education about sharps with engineered sharps injury protection.
Areas covered in this self-paced program include: OSHA requirements; related JCAHO manual chapters; bloodborne pathogen hazards in the occupational environment; engineering and workplace controls; appropriate response to emergencies; and acceptable labeling and recordkeeping. Learning is provided in your choice of English or Spanish. Continuing education credit is offered for MDs, DOs, nurses and healthcare executives.
This new BBP training program now gives you the choice to receive your required training material from the experts, and earn CE credits, too! It is produced by JCAHO, underwritten by OSHA and made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from BD.
